Types of solar dryers

In this collection, an overview of different types of existing solar dryers is given.

In general, solar dryers can be classified in certain groups. There are active solar dryers, these make use of an external energy source. Passive solar dryers do not use this. In direct solar dryers, the food is directly exposed to sunlight, whereas in indirect solar dryers it is just the hot air that flows along the food and there is no sunlight involved in the process.
